Last year the Defensive Coordinator of the Bear was a blowhard named Greg Blache. He said, paraphrased, that sacks aren't important. I think what he meant was pressure was important sacks less so. But that gives him a huge benefit of the doubt.

Here's what H.O.F. coach Marv Levy says about sacks "You have second-and-long and third-and-long situations that lead to turnovers, and it all stems from sacks. A lot of bad things happen from sacks.''

Fortunately for the Bear, Blache was sacked and demoted to linebacker or line coach in DC.

It's typical of Bear coaches they get demoted when they leave. Their last regime of the head coach, off coord, and def coord all took lesser jobs. Now that Terry Shea has been sacked look for his next job to be a lesser one too.

The cycle of ineptitude continues in Chicago.
